Subsidence on the quay at the Port of Felixstowe indicated back fill was being loss through the steel piled quay wall. The results following a dive inspection indicated the pile clutch had split over a large area.
Europa provided diving support for the underwater repair. Firstly the affected area was cleaned from marine growths with high pressure water jetting, then following a video inspection The solution was to place a steel shutter over the damaged area and form a concrete repair

The shutter was lowered into place and our divers secured it in place by welding fixing brackets to the existing piles. Once in position concrete was pumped via underwater pipes through the steel shutter to form the final seal over the damaged area preventing further back fill loss
